on-site Assessment - What to expect

Thank you for scheduling your On-Site Assessment & Tour at CPR Canine Training LLC. This visit is a valuable first step in helping us get to know your dog and helping you feel confident in the care and environment we provide.

Whether you’re considering a Board & Train program or simply want to meet in person before committing, this session is designed to be relaxed, informative, and collaborative.

What We’ll Do During the Visit

✅ Tour the Facility

You’ll get a guided walkthrough of the spaces your dog will be using during their stay, including:

  • Living/training areas
  • Rest and enrichment spaces
  • Outdoor potty and walk zones
  • Equipment and tools used in training

This is a great time to ask questions and get a feel for how your dog will live and learn here.

✅ Meet & Observe Your Dog

I’ll take time to:

  • Greet your dog at their pace
  • Observe their behavior in a new environment
  • Watch how they respond to me, to novelty, and to basic handling or cues
  • Gently assess any noted fears or behavioral concerns

This helps me understand your dog’s comfort level and where to begin with confidence-building.

✅ Discuss Your Training Goals

We’ll sit down together and talk through:

  • Your dog’s history, current challenges, and successes
  • Your top priorities and concerns
  • Past training experiences (good or bad)
  • Desired outcomes from Board & Train or private coaching
  • Suitability and timing for either the 2-week or 4-week program

✅ Build a Custom Training Plan

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of:

  • What we’ll be working on with your dog
  • How the program will be tailored to their emotional and behavioral needs
  • What success will look like and how we’ll get there
  • Estimated timeline and pricing (if not already booked)
  • What to expect after pickup and how you’ll be supported

⏱️ How Long Will It Take?

Expect your session to last 30-45 minutes.

✅ What to Bring or Prepare

To make the most of your visit:

  • Your dog on leash (collar/harness setup you normally use)
  • Vaccination records (digital or paper)
  • Any equipment you currently use (e.g., muzzle, e-collar, prong collar—no judgment!)
  • A list of priorities or questions you’d like to cover
  • Treats or toys your dog finds motivating
  • Comfortable shoes if you’d like to walk with us during the tour

🧠 How to Prepare Your Dog

  • Keep them in their normal routine
  • Don’t overly exercise or exhaust them before the visit
  • Bring them in on leash and wait for direction before introductions
  • If they’re anxious or unsure, that’s okay! I’ll meet them where they’re at.

🧾 What Happens Next?

After the assessment:
✅ I’ll offer a recommendation for the best training approach
✅ If Board & Train is a fit, I’ll walk you through next steps
✅ If you’ve already reserved a spot, this visit confirms the plan and sets us up for a smoother transition
✅ You’ll receive links to forms, your welcome packet, and app download if you haven’t already
✅ You’re encouraged to reach out with questions afterward—no pressure to decide on the spot
